The HK416 is a very common weapon used by the US Forces in the Campaign and is a common weapon with other friendly forces.
Mulitplayer
The HK416 is unlocked at 20000 Assault Rifle XP (approximately 200 assualt rifle kills) and features very low recoil, a competative 750RPM rate of fire and a quick reload (3rd fastest of all the assault rifles) but low damage, making it excellent for medium range combat.
A large downside to using the HK416 is the rather low damage model of 33-24
The time to kill in medium range is medium while at long range is fast. In addition the damage dropoff starts at a longer range than most other assault rifles - 40m.
Overall, the low damage is balanced with a quick reload, medium time to kill, very solid rate of fire and extremely low recoil.
